In our courtyard there lives a dog of a very advanced age, nicknamed Argo. He is 14 years old, a breed of American Staffordshire Terrier.

One fine day I met him for a walk and was horrified. The dog was emaciated and felt very bad. As a veterinarian, I had a legitimate question for the owner: “What do you do with this?” It turned out that he had already traveled to a thousand clinics, but there was still no clearance. Multiple diagnosis and it is not clear what to treat.

I offered my help and was amazed - you rarely meet a person who is ready to give everything in order for his friend to be with him even a little more. How much money and effort was invested in the dog is beyond words. And the owner had to go through a lot - feeding from a syringe, hours-long droppers, a huge amount of sleepless nights, medicines on schedule ....

At some terrible moment, the question of euthanasia arose. But in the end, the owner Argo called me and said that he was not ready yet, that they were still fighting. About a week passed, I saw them on the walk and went to find out how you were doing. In fact, I already thought that the dog was gone. It turned out that after our conversation with him about euthanasia, Argo got up and went to a bowl with food, as if he understood the host’s fighting spirit.

Two months have passed since this story. In life, you can’t say what they have behind them. Perhaps only venerable age and slowness distinguish Argo from other dogs in the yard. This is a magnificent tandem, where a man and an elderly dog exist in a single rhythm.

This is a story that friends are not betrayed, even if they have a tail and four legs.
